Co-FounderMy motivation to co-found connect2evolve comes from the connection of curiosity, technical enthusiasm, and a sense of responsibility.
I’ve always been drawn to new technologies and have learned to dive quickly and deeply into complex topics (without being an engineer). But technology, for me, is not an end in itself - it is a means to close a gap that still defines too many lives: reliable access to clean electricity.
Yohannes Ghermay
Co-FounderBecause he’s not just solving a problem-he’s chasing a vision.
As a kid growing up in Africa, Yohannes knew the sting of unreliable electricity. No lights, no power, no way to dream big. But instead of letting that limit him, he turned it into fuel. Geek at heart, entrepreneur by nature, he saw what others missed: this problem could be solved-and scaled.

Co-FounderEvolve together toward a greener, more resilient future and have a little fun while doing it.
Why does Sylvia Niewiem pour her heart into connect2evolve? Because she can’t stand the idea that a flick of a light switch is still a luxury for millions. A lifelong clean-energy nerd (check her LinkedIn: grids, solar modules, data dashboards—she’s done the rounds), Sylvia knows that scaling renewables in remote regions takes more than good intentions; it takes numbers, sensors, and serious digital wizardry.

Senegal 2022
Electrification Goes Live & Impact Measurement
Start of electricity production in Ndiob. Introduction of an impact token to transparently demonstrate renewable energy generation and avoid CO₂ emissions, providing verifiable proof of environmental impact to supporters.
Colombia 2024
SE c2e kicking off activities in Colombia
On their first visit to the country, the SE c2e team initiated discussions with the Ministerio de Minas y Energía, presenting the c2e scope and exploring overlapping interests as a basis for future collaboration.
Colombia 2025
From dialogue to partnership
c2e’s Colombia visit focused on workshops with potential local partners to jointly shape collaboration approaches, align on shared interests, and define next steps and resulting in the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding.
Peru 2026
From grant to field application in Peru
As part of the EU‑LAC Accelerator grant jointly won by c2e and Wimesa Media Technology, Wimesa undertook research travel to Peru to test new digital solutions in the Amazon region, bringing innovation directly into real‑world environments.
